CM Punjab Electric Bike Scheme

Recently, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif unveiled an electric bike scheme for the students of Punjab. Through this scheme, students in Punjab will be able to get electric bikes without interest on easy installments. This scheme aims to solve the transportation issues experienced by students. An agreement has also been signed between the Government of Punjab and the Bank of Punjab for this scheme.

Online Registration Process

If you belong to the province of Punjab and you are studying at any government institution and want to get an electric bike, here are the complete details of the registration procedure for you. Let us tell you that the registration process for the electric bike scheme has not started yet, but an agreement has been reached with the Punjab Bank on behalf of the Punjab government. Soon, the application will be submitted through Punjab Bank. In this regard, it is hoped that the registration process will be online, and aspirant students will be able to complete their registration by getting the online application form.

Benefits of the E-bike Scheme 2024

The bike scheme launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif provides a lot of benefits to students.

  • After getting an electric bike from the scheme, students will be able to travel to educational institutions with ease.
  • Electric bikes will help reduce environmental pollution.
  • After getting a motorbike on easy installments, students will be able to see a clear reduction in their travel expenses.

Launch Date and Payment Details

The Punjab government will start the distribution of bikes on May 19 after completing the registration process as soon as possible. Aspiring students will be able to get the bike after providing a down payment of 25,000. After which, after every month, an installment of Rs 10,000 will have to be deposited for the electric bike. But here is a very good thing that you need to know: this scheme is providing interest-free bikes, so you don’t need to worry in this regard.

  • Down Payment: Rs. 25,000 (as reported by The News International)
  • Monthly Installments:
    • For E-Bikes: Rs. 10,000 per month
    • For Petrol Bikes: Rs. 5,000 per month

Total Number of Bikes

If we talk about the total number of bikes, the Punjab government will provide a total of 20,000 here. Including 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes. The Government of Punjab took the first and best step to meet the transportation needs of students in urban and rural areas. Further, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz assured during the press conference that the number of bikes will increase in the near future. He said that it is my effort that all the students of Punjab can benefit from this scheme.

Quota Allocation for Urban and Rural Areas

If we talk about the quota system, separate quotas have been allocated for urban and rural areas to ensure fair distribution. In urban areas, 50 percent male and 50 percent female students will be able to benefit. In rural areas, a 70 percent quota has been allocated for men and 30 percent for women.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who want to get a bike under the Electric Bikes Scheme need to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Since this scheme has been started by the Punjab government, the students must belong to the province of Punjab to benefit from it.
  • The age limit of the students applying to get a bike must be between 18 and 25 years old.
  • As far as educational enrollment is concerned, students who are studying at any government college or university in Punjab can apply for the scheme.
