In this regard, the officials of this scheme said that these news stories are completely baseless, and the government is very much involved in the scheme.

Speaking in this regard More, he said that the registration process has been completed and the e-balloting process will also start within the next week. According to the portal established for the registration of electric bike scheme, about 72,000 students have completed their registration as of May 1. In which about 57 thousand students have submitted their applications for petrol bikes and 15000 students for electric bikes.

E-Bike Scheme for Students

If I tell you a little about the background of this scheme, then you should know that a scheme for students was launched by the Punjab government last month. Under this scheme, it was promised to provide 20,000 motorcycles to students at colleges and universities. In which 19,000 petrol bikes and 1000 electric bikes were included. And in this regard, a special portal was established by the Punjab government, on which the student registration process was completed. The special feature of this bike scheme was that the students could get the bikes in easy installments. And for this, the students did not need to pay any kind of interest.

Installment Plan

To facilitate the distribution of motorcycles to students, the Punjab government has collaborated with the Bank of Punjab (BOP). The monthly installment for electric bikes is Rs 10,000, while for petrol bikes it is Rs 5,000.

Delivery

Transparency is key, so the government has decided to hold a lottery in May to ensure fairness in the distribution process.

Quota

Quotas are set to ensure equal opportunities. In urban areas, bikes will be shared equally between men and women. However, in rural areas, there is a slight difference with the quota allocated to 70% male students and 30% female students.
